Exploring Medical Tourism In South Florida, Where Cutting-Edge Treatments Are Just Steps By The Beach

a burgeoning market for medical tourism, South Florida is attracting national and international patients for cutting-edge treatments just steps from the beach. And it's only just beginning.

Long have the faithful flocked to South Florida for its beautiful beaches, delectable dining, stellar shopping and warm weather—a superfecta of stimuli that has made the lower portion of the peninsula a popular playground for sunseekers. The air temperature averages 82 degrees, with the ocean temperature a tepid 77.

While blue skies, green palms and the year-round opportunity to dive, fish, golf, kayak and surf have their appeal, so does another aspect of the tourism trade less obvious in

tiny treehouses 1

Potted plants become hosts for miniature treehouses filled with tiny furniture, ladders and figurines, each one unique, built around the branches of a cactus or jade plant as if it’s a full-sized tree. These intriguing little scenes make us lean in closer to examine scaled-down worlds, wishing we could shrink ourselves to hang out in the complex wooden structures, enjoying their precarious platforms and even postage-stamp-sized works of art on the walls.

Atmo Sfera Platterless Turntable: designed with physics in mind

Designed and manufactured in Italy by audio startup Audio Deva, the Atmo Sfera is the very chic culmination of several prototypes and many lab tests. Imagine dining surrounded by gangsta tattoo art. This is now possible in Aix-en-Provence, where patrons of a Japanese restaurant are surrounded by vast monochromatic motifs inspired by the Japanese Yakuza. The environment is a stylish feast for the senses. We may just forget to focus on our plates and get lost in the walls!

Someone just had a ‘lightbulb’ moment in the world of luxe lighting. Who needs conventional perfection when contemporary perfection incorporates deliberate defects – or put more simply, why not deconstruct your expectations and smash up a lamp! Cool – now you’ve got ‘CRASH’ – a dish for displaying veg and fruit as well as a suspended light fitting that’s a talking point. Erm…is it meant to be like that or did you have an accident in transit?

compact roll-up wellington boots

When you take rain boots – or wellintons, depending on where in the world you reside – with you, it has to be a very deliberate choice. They are big, bulky, and difficult to pack, so if you’re packing them to take on a trip, you’d better be absolutely sure it’s worth the trouble.

Barcelona-based designer Estel Alcaraz thought of a better way to handle waterproof footwear one day when she arrived home soaked to the bone by a rainstorm.
