East Las Olas Boulevard Named One Of The Most Expensive Streets In America

Fort Lauderdale is home to one of the priciest streets in the country. 

East Las Olas Boulevard came in among the top 15 most expensive streets in America, according to a recent list compiled by professional services and investment management firm Jones, Lang, LaSalle, IP, Inc.  The rankings were based on the rent costs per square foot basis.

Yes, Las Olas is popular for restaurants, boutiques and more, but apparently the rent is steeper than you might think. The firm reports that the cost on the coveted street is $44.30 per square foot, which is about $16 higher than the average market rate.

Nearby Royal Palm Way in Palm Beach also made the list, coming in at No. 9 with a cost of $58.07 per square foot.

NSU Art Museum In Fort Lauderdale Is Now Serving Up Sunday Brunch With A Side Of Live Music

Have a hankering for Sunday brunch? Starting this weekend, you can opt for an appetizing outing in an out-of-the-ordinary spot.

Beginning Nov. 22, Fort Lauderdale's NSU Art Museum is launching a new Sunday brunch menu with live music at its café. At this weekend's launch, local guitarist and songwriter Peter Betan will be performing for guests.

The Museum Café's brunch menu will be served from noon to 4 p.m. every Sunday. Featured items include a quiche of the day, open-face smoked salmon sandwich, Belgian waffles with seasonal berries, whole grain croissants, yogurt and berry parfait, and fresh pastries.

You won't have to travel far this holiday season to spend time at one of the most popular Christmas and New Year's destinations. 

Fort Lauderdale ranked No. 5 on Orbitz.com's top 10 travel destinations lists for each holiday. The results were part of an Insider's Index that detailed the travel outlook for 2015.

A survey by the website showed that 71 percent of Americans are planning to travel between Thanksgiving and New Year's, and many plan to do so on a budget. Seed Food & Wine Festival Returns To South Florida This Month To Show That Plant-Based Eating Can Be Delicious

Vegans, vegetarians and open-minded eaters, there's a plant-based food and wine festival coming to South Florida, and it begins next week.

Seed Food and Wine Festival will take place in Miami Beach and Miami's Wynwood Arts District from Nov. 18 to Nov. 22. Launched last year, the event is designed to "showcase the delicious side of plant-based living, helping to fuel mainstream acceptance of sustainability and prompting a major change going forward."

The 2015 edition of the festival will feature local culinary talent, leaders in the vegan community and health food celebrities, such as former NBA star and vegan wine owner John Salley and wellness advocate Rich Roll.
